The Star Brisbane says ‘bonjour’ to Tassis Group’s new French-inspired restaurant

In a new kind of French revolution, the Tassis Group prepares to welcome a second venue to the Queen’s Wharf Brisbane precinct this year – a French champagne bar and restaurant, ‘Pompette’, located on The Terrace within The Star Brisbane entertainment hub.

Second-generation restaurateur and Group owner, Michael Tassis, says “With Brisbane dining evolving, The Star Brisbane presented the perfect opportunity to experiment with a fun and fresh venue concept. We’re so excited to expand on our offerings and bring a slice of France to Brisbane”.

Says Tassis, “French cuisine is renowned for its rich flavours and textures – but many people find it intimidating. The concept of Pompette is to make that French dining experience a little more approachable”.

Designed by Clui Design, the restaurant will boast stunning Parisian-inspired interiors complete with a champagne and oyster bar, plus a leafy alfresco area and three private dining rooms.

Conveniently positioned at the end of the Neville Bonner pedestrian bridge, the venue also flaunts spectacular views of the Brisbane River and South Bank Parklands, making it a real flagship tenancy within the resort.

The Star Brisbane Chief Executive Officer Daniel Finch said the French-inspired venue will provide another exciting offering for The Terrace, joining its Mediterranean sister venue, Dark Shepherd.

“The Tassis Group has gone from strength to strength in recent years, bringing an array of incredible dining options to Brisbane and contributing to the growth and reputation of our city,” said Mr Finch.

“Pompette will bring a truly innovative offering to The Star Brisbane, and we have no doubt it will quickly become a popular location with its European influence and prime location on The Terrace.

“The Star is incredibly proud to partner with local hospitality groups as we work together to showcase and support Brisbane’s evolving dining and entertainment scene.”

Open for all day dining, Pompette will serve modern interpretations of traditional French dishes, including Escargot, Steak au Poivre, plus more.

Tassis says, "It [Pompette] will be an inner-city oasis, romanticising all the best elements of the European lifestyle – from long lunches to late-night rendezvous”.

The opening marks the fourth venue to be launched by the Tassis Group in 2024, further expanding on their impressive portfolio including: Opa Bar + Mezze, Yamas Greek + Drink, Rich & Rare, Fosh Bar & Restaurant, Massimo Restaurant, Longwang and Fatcow on James Street. The Group is also slated to open two new concept venues – Stilts and Mulga Bills – in line with the opening of the Brisbane City Council’s Kangaroo Point Green Bridge.

Pompette will join an array of culinary experiences, dynamic entertainment and event destinations destined for The Star Brisbane including cutting-edge Japanese Sokyo, Celebrity Chef Luke Nguyen's street food favourite Fat Noodle; and authentic Italian family dining Cucina Regina, Black Hide Steak & Seafood by Gambaro and flavourful Latin-American Azteca (by Potentia Solutions Leisure) on The Terrace.
