Elevated dining reaches new heights as Tassis Group opens its two must-visit venues on the Kangaroo Point Bridge in February

Brisbane, Australia – Brisbane’s dining scene is set to enter an exciting new chapter this month with the opening of two highly anticipated restaurant venues atop the Kangaroo Point Bridge in the coming weeks. Tassis Group, the team behind some of the city’s most celebrated restaurants, will soon welcome diners to Mulga Bill’s and Stilts Dining which mark a major milestone in Brisbane’s culinary and tourism landscape.

Helmed by renowned restaurateur Michael Tassis, the new venues will offer distinctly different yet equally breathtaking experiences, celebrating Brisbane’s lifestyle, local produce, and spectacular riverfront setting.

The concept for both venues was first pitched in 2022. Mr Tassis says, “The opportunity to create two venues on top of an iconic bridge was simply unmissable. Brisbane is a city that thrives on its connection to the river, and these venues will offer a truly unique way to experience it”.

Mulga Bill’s

Drawing inspiration from Banjo Paterson’s famous poem about a man whose bicycle escapades land him in the river, Mulga Bill’s embraces the active transport theme of the Bridge, offering a welcoming space for both casual visitors and avid explorers. The riverside café will serve up wood-fired pizzas, premium steaks, and fresh seafood to be devoured in-house, alongside pastries and expertly brewed coffee to grab and enjoy on-the-go. Open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Mulga Bill’s will be the first Tassis Group venue to cater to early risers (and early riders).

“Mulga Bill’s is a little bit of fun,” says Tassis, “and we’re excited for this adventure into more relaxed and casual dining – it’s totally new for us. We look forward to welcoming people on their way to work, those out spending time with their family, visiting at the end of the day or to take in the beauty of the night”.

Stilts Dining

Perched above the river with unparalleled 180-degree views of Brisbane’s iconic cityscape, Story Bridge, Botanic Gardens, and Kangaroo Point Cliffs, Stilts Dining pays homage to the city’s beloved Queenslander homes. Elevated in every sense, this 95-seat Modern Australian restaurant will seamlessly blend fine dining with breathtaking scenery. Open seven days for lunch and dinner, Stilts will be a must-visit destination for food lovers, tourists, and those looking to celebrate special moments with a view like no other.

Says Tassis, “I’ve always loved Queensland architecture, and how unique homes look raised high on stilts to capture views and breezes – these homes are where our most special memories are made. That’s the inspiration behind Stilts. Not only is it raised to capture the stunning views, it’s a venue to share with loved ones and create memories, and to enjoy the best produce and talent Queensland has to offer”.

Mulga Bill’s and Stilts will become the jewels in the crown of the Tassis Group’s hospitality empire, which now includes 11 of some of the most celebrated restaurants in the city, from the hatted Fatcow on James St, Longwang, Rich & Rare, as well as Dark Shepherd, and Pompette Champagne Bar at The Star Brisbane. Even amid challenging times for the hospitality industry, Tassis Group continues to expand, proving the enduring strength of Brisbane’s dining scene.

Brisbane diners can expect an official opening date announcement soon. But as anticipation continues to build, one thing is certain — Brisbane City’s newest dining destinations will be well worth the wait.
